D-STAR Applications
The DuPage County Emcomm Repeater Association has compiled the following information which will assist users of the D-STAR System in exploring the many emerging D-STAR applications:

|
| D-STAR Chat (d*Chat)
D-STAR Chat or d*Chat is a simple application that enables you to type in a line of text that is sent through the attached D-STAR radio when you click the SEND button or hit the RETURN key. The application does not currently support any form of error correction or flow-control. If a transmission is missed by the receiving party, it may be recalled and re-sent by the sender. Only the last line sent can be recalled.
It is a command line utility that will convert the ICOM format file (.icf) to a .csv text file, and back again so you can load it into another radio.
It works in conjunction with, and is not a replacement for the ICOM software.

| D-RATS |
|
| D-RATS
D-RATS is a small application designed to provide data communication capabilities with D-STAR radios. It supports text chatting, file transfers, position reporting and mapping, and much more! It is written in Python using GTK to run on multiple platforms

| D-STAR TV |
|
| D-STAR TV
D-STAR TV is essentially slow-scan television for D-STAR radios. D-STAR TV sends images as a compressed jpeg (240x240 pixels) and allows the user to adjust the compression rate thereby controlling the transfer rate.

| D-StarLet
D-StarLet is a web-based text messaging application using D-STAR digital data technology.

D-PRS
D-STAR is a digital over-the-air protocol developed by the Japan Amateur Radio League, Inc. (JARL) which supports Ethernet at 128 kbps (DD) or digital voice at 4800 bps (DV). DV uses 3600 bps for voice (2400 AMBE encoding, 1200 bps FEC) and 1200 bps for synchronization and multiuse (approximately 900 bps is available for general use). APRS is a protocol designed by Robert Bruninga WB4APR to communicate information such as positions, weather, etc. using AX.25 as a transport protocol. It has been adapted to use any clear-text protocol such as Telnet.
D-PRS is the act of converting Icom GPS information generated by Icom D-STAR radios in GPS mode into TNC2 formatted APRS strings. This allows the D-STAR GPS data to be used by the Automated Position Reporting System (APRS).

| DStar Comms |
|
| DStar Comms
Dstar Comms was started as a communication project using the D-STAR protocol of Icom amateur radios. Dstar Comms runs on your PC while connected to the D-STAR radio (2820, 91, 92 etc etc) via the serial port.

| D-STAR Query |
|
| D-STAR Query
DSTAR Query works in tandem with javAPRSSrvr or D-PRS Interface to monitor the D-STAR serial data port (or USB port for the ID-1) for commands/queries from remote stations. Upon receiving a recognized command/query, DStarQuery will run the associated application and return whatever is the "printed" by the application.
